Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star wicket-keeper batsman AB de Villiers feels the side is yet to put in the best performance. RCB is currently placed at the fifth place in the latest IPL standings after winning three of its five matches.
Virat Kohli and his men have so far lost against Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Capitals in the season. The last one came against the Delhi Capitals by 59 runs in Dubai International Stadium on Monday.
AB de Villiers said that RCB is in a good touch this year and high on confidence ahead of their clash with the Chennai Super Kings.
“We got a decent start, a couple of disappointing performances but all in all we are not far off from our best and I think we know what is required to get the momentum going. I have been feeling alright in the last five matches, I did not have a good game in the last match of ours, I will be focusing on getting the swing of things,” De Villiers said in a video posted.
The 36-year-old has scored 155 runs this season at an average of 51.66 and also played a significant role in strengthening the middle order.
Head coach Simon Katich still feels that the side still needs to address certain areas going forward in the tournament.
“We have had a good couple of days to regroup and also prepare. I think in terms of this week, it has been good to analyse what has gone well for us and where we need to improve on. We are trying to see the upcoming games as an opportunity to set up our season. Hopefully, we can get on a roll,” Katich said.
RCB is a better off position than the CSK who have won only two matches and at seventh place this season.
