South African cricket legend Jacques Kallis celebrates his 45th birthday today. A handy bowler, explosive with the bat, and an efficient fielding helped him in cementing his name as one of the best all-rounders ever in the history of international cricket.
As South Africa’s greatest batsman and an equally effective bowler, Kallis has scored a total of 25,534 collectively in all the three formats of the game and has scalped a jaw-dropping number of 577 wickets in all. He is the only cricketer to cross the mark of 10,000 runs and dismiss 250 wickets in ODIs and Test.
Referred to as ‘the best cricketer in the world’ on numerous occasions, Kallis holds the record of being named as the Man of the Match the most number of times in Test cricket. He also achieved the feat of becoming the first player to grab the title of Player of the Final along with the Player of the Tournament awards in ICC Champions Trophy.
The cricket fraternity poured their wishes for the legendary all-rounder. Here are some of the congratulatory tweets:
After retiring, Kallis now serves as the batting consultant for the South Africa cricket team.
