The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made an announcement in a press release on Monday that they have shortlisted 20 players for the playing squad to face England in the three-match Test series on the English home ground.
The tour comprises of a three-match Test series which will commence on 5th August 2020 and end on 25th August 2020. 29 players will be touring the opponent country of which the selected 20 will be playing the Test series under the captainship of Azhar Ali, while the remaining 9 players will work on their training with the squad for the T20I series following the former series.
The selections were made on the basis of the examinations of players in a four-day intra-squad matches organised by the board.
The squad has witnessed the comeback of prominent players who will be resuming their game after a long-time. Sarfaraz Ahmad, former skipper of the national team will be playing a Test after January 2019. Long-serving pacer, Wahab Riaz will be leading the bowling attacks in Test cricket again after 2019.
The twenty-player squad includes:
Azhar Ali (captain), Babar Azam, Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Iftikhar Ahmad, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Musa Khan, Naseem Shah, Rohail Nazir, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Sohail Khan, Usman Shinwari, Yasir Shah
The remaining nine players who will be training for the T20I are – Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hasnain and Musa Khan.
