Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally responded to the legal lawsuit the PSL franchise owners had filed against them earlier this week. The PCB expressed disappointment after receiving the lawsuit over changing the financial model of the tournament.
One of the board’s counsel told Lahore High court that the petition was liable to be dismissed, leading to no other fruitful conclusion. Instead, the disagreements could be only be settled through initiating an arbitration.
“The PCB remains committed to working with its partners, but in this matter, it is surprised and disappointed that despite its offers to engage in discussions over the financial model and whilst being aware of the appropriate forum for dispute resolution, the franchisees approached the Honourable High Court” the PCB said in the statement.
PCB’s counsel Taffazul Rizvi informed the judge reading the petition of the PSL franchises “that the PCB had twice this week invited the franchise owners to meet and discuss the financial model for HBL Pakistan Super League with a view towards redressing grievances in good faith”.
On the other hand, the franchises alleged the PCB that nothing concrete has so far been discussed about the issue despite meeting once.
The franchises are still unhappy with the PCB over the revenue distribution as they are still under huge losses. The PCB is supposed to submit the documents in response to the lawsuit filed by the franchises on September 30.
