Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday invited the England cricket team for a limited-overs tour to Pakistan in early 2021. Both the teams were recently involved in a three-match Test series, followed by the white-ball series in August.
After the successful series completion, the PCB has now formally invited the England team to tour Pakistan next year.
However, the final decision is yet to be taken in due course, as per the official Twitter handle of the ICC. During the series, England Test skipper Joe Root had also expressed his desire to tour Pakistan if series gets finalised.
Pakistan hosted Zimbabwe for the first time in 10 years 2015, marking the return of the international cricket in the country.
Last year, Sri Lanka and West Indies had toured Pakistan for the series, followed by Bangladesh in January this year.
“We welcome the fact that international cricket is returning to Pakistan and are committed to doing what we can to help this develop further,” added the ECB statement.
“As with any proposed tour that takes place at this time, the safety and welfare of our players and staff is paramount” it further stated.
