England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday named the batsman Phil Salt for the three-match ODI series against Australia. Phil plays for the Sussex in the domestic cricket and he is yet to play his first game for England in the international cricket.
The 24-year-old impressed with the bat during England’s training camp and he also blasted a century off just 58 balls against Ireland.
Phil was also a part of the England side during their T20I series against Pakistan last year. But he remained uncapped without making his debut for the national side.
England has already won the three-match T20I series by 2-0 with the final game remaining. After that they head onto the ODI series starting from September 11.
Phil will also join the likes of Joe Denly and Saqib Mahmood as one of the reserves for the series. England has named the 13-man squad for the ODI series excluding Jason Roy after he got injured and ruled out for several weeks.
Jason Roy missed out on the entire T20I series after he sustained a left side strain. He also pulled out of the Indian Premier League in which he was supposed to represent Delhi Capital
England and Australia are scheduled to play the third and final T20I match at the Rose Bowl Ground on September 8.
