South African star Faf du Plessis is all set to feature in the remaining playoff matches of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL). The Proteas has been picked up by the Peshawar Zalmi.
The news broke out soon after the end of his IPL season against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The topliner player amassed a total of 449 runs in 13 matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), making it his best IPL season so far.
Faf is among the 21 overseas players who will be starring in the remaining matches of the tournament. Apart from him, 7 other South African players will also be a part of the league. This season will mark the debut of the player in PSL which will recommence on November 14. He will play as a replacement of Kieron Pollard.
“I am very excited to join Peshawar Zalmi for the playoff stage games of HBL PSL 2020. I have fond memories of playing in Pakistan when I toured with the ICC World XI in 2017 and I am sure this experience, although different due to Covid-19, will be a memorable one as well,” Du Plessis remarked.
The tournament had gotten underway on February 20 and was supposed to be wrapped up by March 22. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic it could not proceed after March 15 and the playoffs had to be pushed further.
Peshawar Zalmi will play their eliminator knockout against Lahore Qalander on November 14. The qualifier match will be the clash between Multan sultan and Karachi Kings on the same day. The second eliminator will be played on November 15. The finale will be held on November 17. The timing of the qualifier match is 2:30 IST while the other three matches will start at 7:30 IST.
