Pakistani spinner Raza Hasan has been ruled out of the ongoing Qaid-e-Asam trophy after breaking COVID-19 protocols. The left-arm spinner admitted on leaving the team hotel where his team Norther 2nd XI is based.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the statement after his exemption following his breach of the protocols under the bio-secure bubble. PCB’s High-Performance Director Nadeem Khan even quashed the spinner saying his what Hasan did was “irresponsible and damaging”
The board had done the entire arrangement for the Qaid-e-Asam trophy for all the teams including the primary and second XI. The protocol forbade the players and team staff to leave the bio-bubble without permission during the tournament without seeking permission.
For leaving the bubble, the players had to seek permission from the High Performance department and the medical staff.
“It is sad and unfortunate that despite several reminders and educational programmes on the significance and importance of respecting and following Covid-19 protocols, Raza Hasan decided to take matters in his hand and overstepped the line,” Nadeem Khan said.
“As such, he has been expelled from the tournament and will not be allowed for the remaining season
“The PCB has a zero-tolerance approach towards Covid-19 breaches as these are designed to not only ensure health and safety of all participants but to also demonstrate to the world that we can successfully organise and deliver domestic competitions.
“I sincerely hope Raza Hasan will use this time to reflect on his irresponsible actions and the potential damage his breach could have caused to the event in general and Pakistan cricket in particular.” Nadeem Khan concluded.
The 28-year-old Hasan starred for Pakistan during the T20 World Cup match in 2012 and finished with the figures of 4-0-14-2.
He also played for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League and a regular for the Norther 2nd XI team.
