Mumbai Indians succumbed to their fifth loss of the season after getting thrashed by Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 wickets on Tuesday. Although MI became the first team to qualify for the playoffs. But the loss against the desperate SRH was one of their worst performances this season.
Put in to bat first, Mumbai Indians only managed to reach 149/8 in 20 overs in the high-scoring pitch at Sharjah Cricket Ground.
Sunrisers openers Wriddhiman Saha and David Warner made it look effortless as they reached the target with just 17 balls to spare.
After the loss, Rohit Sharma admitted the side’s performance was one of the worst outings of the season so far especially ahead of the playoffs.
“Not the day we want to remember, probably our worst performance of the season. We wanted to try a few things, it didn’t go our way. We knew dew was going to play a factor and we wanted to take the toss out of consideration, but we didn’t play good cricket today” Rohit said.
Rohit Sharma returned to the field after missing out on a few games in the tournament due to his hamstring injury. Kieron Pollard led the side in his absence and ensured the MI reached the playoffs after finishing at the top of the table.
“I was happy to be back, it’s been a while. I’m looking forward to play few more games here, let’s see what happens. It (hamstring) is fine, absolutely” he added.
Mumbai Indians will face Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 1 match of the tournament on November 5 in Dubai International Stadium.
