Fast bowler S Sreesanth has been named in Kerala’s T20 squad for the upcoming season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The pacer made his return to the competitive cricket after seven years of absence from the cricket field due to suspension.
Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has named him in the 26-man squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy slated to begin January 10. The tournament will also mark the return of domestic cricket in India post the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Kerala Cricket Board have also names wicket-keeper batsmen Sanju Samson and Robin Uthappa alongside Sachin Baby and Basil Thampi who already play in the IPL.
The tournament will be played under the bio-secure bubble with all the teams assembling in common place. The grounds will be selected depending on their proxy with the nearby hotels for the players.
The tournament will begin from January 10 with the finals set to be played on January 31. Sreesanth will also play the first recognized domestic tournament after he was banned by the BCCI for the lifetime for his alleged involvement in the match-fixing during IPL. He was involved in a match-fixing with his team-mates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
For his good conduct, his lifetime ban was shortened to seven years that ended this year in September.
