South Africa has updated its squad ahead of the second Test against Sri Lanka. The team has ruled out seamer Migael Pretorius and called up Beuran Hendricks to rejoin the squad.
A muscle injury in his right shoulder has caused Proteas seamer, Migael Pretorius, to drop out of the remaining matches. Pretorius has been released from the Bio-Secure Environment (BSE) and will not return to his Knights franchise for recovery.
Pretorius has received his first Test cap on December 16 for the Boxing Day Test, but unfortunately for him, he cannot proceed for the second match of the Test series.
Hendricks was initially included in the 15-player squad of the South African team for the first Test but did not get a chance to feature in the match due to COVID-19 reasons.
Hendricks, who has received his second Test call-up, joined the squad on Tuesday after successfully going through and clearing the COVID-19 and pre-BSE entry protocols. He will soon commence his training for the second Test.
South Africa is leading the two-match Test series with a 1-0 lead after winning the first Test that concluded on Tuesday.
The second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka will begin on January 3 at Johannesburg.
