The second Test of the two-match Test series between South Africa and Sri Lanka ended today at Johannesburg with South Africa winning the second match by 10 wickets. With the second win, South Africa won the series, whitewashing the visitors by 2-0.
South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka at 211 runs in their second innings. Dimuth Karunaratne smashed a victory for the Sri Lankan team but it went in vain. He registered 103 runs.
Lungi Ngidi and Lutho Simpala were the stars of the bowling attack for the host team. Ngidi took four wickets in the second innings of the visitors, conceding 44 runs, while Simpala dismissed 3 wickets, conceding 40 runs.
The bowlers limited the Sri Lankan target to a double-figure, giving South Africa an easy score of 67 runs to chase. Taking just 13.2 overs, openers Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram successfully chased the target to win the match. Elgar scored 31 runs in 27 balls, while Markram contributed 36 runs in 53 balls to ensure the victory.
Dean Elgar was declared the Player of the Series for playing a beautiful knock of 127 runs in the first innings of South Africa. He amassed a total of 253 runs in the series.
Sri Lanka will now fly back home to gear up for their next series that is against England in Galle. They are slated to play two Tests against the visitors, commencing on January 14.
