Sri Lanka Cricket suffered another setback on Tuesday that might lead to postponement of the inaugural edition of Lankan Cricket League.
This comes after the Test series against Bangladesh supposed to take place in Sri Lanka got postponed. The main reason behind the postponement was the COVID-19 regulations of the Sri Lankan government.
And since the SLC failed to modify the regulations for the Bangladesh players leading to the pushing the series indefinitely. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has now refused to give the NOC to its players to play in the Lankan Premier League (LPL).
“I don’t see any possibility. And at the same time, we also are going to host domestic cricket,” Nazmul Hassan answered after being asked about Shakib’s participation in LPL.
”I don’t think there is any possibility to see Bangladeshi cricketers taking part in the LPL because at that point of time we will have domestic cricket and they will be engaged here,” he added.
The LPL was supposed to begin in the mid-August but later it was rescheduled between November 14-December 6.
The SLC had named around 150 players for the auction in the LPL including Chris Gayle, Shakib Al Hasan, Colin Munro, Munaf Patel and Ravi Bopara.
There is no clarity on when the Test series and LPL will now take place due to the series of setbacks for the SLC. But their counterparts BCB may well go ahead with their domestic season, following the postponement of the three-match Test series.
