Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik is expected to fly to England for the limited-overs series if he clears he COVID-19 tests.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday confirmed that Malik would get to travel Southampton on August 15 if all of his reports of Coronavirus comes negative.
“The PCB is planning to fly-out T20 specialist Shoaib Malik to Southampton on 15 August, provided he returns two negative Covid-19 tests as per the agreed protocols and processes,” PCB said in a statement.
The three-match ODI series between England and Pakistan is set to begin from August 28 and Malik’s presence could be a major boost to the limited-overs team.
The first match of the T20I series will be played under the bio-secure environment set by the ECB on August 28, followed by the second and third matches on August 30 and September 1.
The PCB had also permitted Malik to join the limited overs team a bit late as he wished to spend some time with his family in the UAE.
Pakistan’s assistant coach Shahid Aslam will also fly back to England after attending his fathers’ final rites in Pakistan last week. He will join the side after serving the mandatory quarantine period set by the ECB.
