Sophie Devine on Wednesday praised the sisters Amelia Kerr and Jess Kerr for their match-winning performance against Australia. Australia already had the lead of 2-0 against the White Ferns after their return to international cricket.
Sophie Devine and Co. managed to win the third match by 5 wickets and Amelia Kerr became the player of the match for her spell. She removed the opposition skipper Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes within three overs.
While Jess started off her spell in style in the match with a maiden over against the home side. After Amelia, she had the best economy rate with 5.00 in four overs.
“It must be something in the Kerr family, nerves of steel,” Sophie Devine praised the sisters. Jess played her first match of the series and she didn’t disappoint her skipper instead finished with a good spell.
“It was great for her; that’s what you want from any player who comes into the team – to make an impact and she did it straightaway against one of the world’s best batters.” Devine added.
Amelia also contributed with the bat in the series and scored 18 runs off 10 balls in the the third T20I match.
“We all know how much talent Amelia has got. For us it’s about nurturing her. She has a pretty calm head on her shoulders as we saw today and she’s done it before, not only for New Zealand but also in the WBBL” the winning skipper praised Amelia.
White Ferns failed to win the T20I series but they would be hoping to continue with the winning spree in the ODI series starting October 3.
