Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday announced the 24-man squad for the upcoming white-ball home series against England. The tour will comprise of three match T20I series, followed by as many ODI matches between November 27- December 6.
The squad has some surprising inclusion especially the exclusion of some of the seasoned players in the squad. Speedster Dale Steyn who declared himself available for the limited-overs has been left out of the 24-man squad.
He had announced his retirement from the longest format last year in August and continued to play in various T20 leagues globally.
Spinner Imran Tahir has also failed to make a cut in the squad along with the batsman Janneman Malan despite good performance in the past.
The 24-man squad will be led by the Quinton de Kock which will include the debutant fast bowler Glenton Stuurman. The team will feature the likes of the fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada especially after their good performance in the IPL.
Cricket South Africa director Graeme Smith asserted all the measures that would be needed to stage the series across Paarl and Western Capetown.
“It’s been a long winter and it’s really pleasing that we finally have an imminent international tour on our shores to look forward to,” Smith said.
