Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith suffered a double blow on Tuesday after the loss against the Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians put up a staggering performance against the discoloured Rajasthan team and won the match by 57 runs.
Steve Smith had one more reason to be disappointed about, as the match referee Chris Gaffaney fined him for 12 Lakhs for maintaining slow-over rate. This was also Rajasthan’s first breach of over-rate offence in the ongoing IPL 2020.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Smith was fined Rs 12 lakh,” stated an IPL media release.
Mumbai Indians batted first and with the help of Suryakumar Yadav’s masterful inning, reached a total of 193/4 after 20 overs.
The bowlers put up an enthralling show especially the duo Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah who collectively cleaned five wickets.
Bumrah finished with the match-winning figure of 4/20 and singlehandedly removed the middle order batting. Rajasthan Royals got all out on 136 runs and stumbled upon their third loss of the season and the 7th place in the team standings.
