England pacer Stuart Broad has been fined 15% of his match fees by his father and match referee Chris Broad for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.
Broad was seen using foul language during the first Test against Pakistan at Old Trafford in Manchester. He also became the first England player to be fined by his father for breaching the Code of Conduct.
The 34-year-old was imposed a Level 1 offense fine for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The article forbids the use of any language and action that incites an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.
The incident of Broad resorting to the inappropriate language during the 46th over of the Pakistan’s innings on the fourth day of the match. After getting Yasir Shah caught behind, Broad celebrated by abusing in later he also admitted of the offense.
Broad now has three demerit points in the last 24 months, with the first one levied against him during the series against India. The second one came during the clash against South Africa in Wanderers in 2018.
