England’s county cricket team Sussex signed Afghanistan’s ace spinner Rashid Khan for the upcoming season of T20 Blast on Monday. This development takes place hours after Sunrisers Hyderabad exited from the 13th edition of the IPL.
Rashid Khan was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise and now his journey with the side has come to an end this season.
Rashid has played for Sussex in the last two seasons after signing with the club in 2018. He also played a substantial role in helping his side reach the knockout stages of both the editions since his signing.
The 22-year-old didn’t play for the club due to his obligation towards Caribbean Premier League and IPL teams this season.
James Kirtley who was joined by Ian Salisbury at the club said he is looking forward to having Rashid by the side next season.
“He would be on any team’s wish list around the world, so for Sussex to have him playing next year is awesome,” Kirtley said.
“We endeavour to keep the worldwide profile high of our T20 team and Rash is one of the best performing and [most] well-known players in the game “Add to that the fact that he is a hugely popular and respected figure in our dressing room and with everyone around the club and this is a big boost for us ahead of next year’s Blast,” he added.
