Chennai Super Kings finally retained the rhythm in the IPL 2020, following an emphatic victory over KXIP by 10 wickets.
The win came after back to back three losses which also shocked all the CSK fans this season. But this time around, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson scripted the victory by chasing down the target easily.
CSK won the match by 10 wickets, which is also the first time in IPL 2020 when any team won without losing any wicket. Shane Watson hit the match-winning score of 83* runs while Faf du Plessis continued with his good form by hammering 87* runs.
He is also second in the race of purple cap holders this season and only 20 runs behind the KXIP skipper KL Rahul who has 302 runs so far.
MS Dhoni praised both the openers after the win especially Shane Watson after runs finally came from his bat.
“Watson was looking good in the nets. But what you want is to replicate that. It was just a matter of time that he gets going” Dhoni said.
Talking about Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni credited him for always holding onto his wicket and stay until the end and keep the side in the contest.
“Faf is like a sheet anchor for us. He can always confuse the bowlers with shots like the lap shot. They (Watson and Faf) compliment each other well.” Dhoni added.
CSK bowlers might have not taken many wickets in the match but they managed to keep the KXIP middle order silent in the match. Dhoni credited the bowlers for not leaking away runs and they delivered with a plan.
“Felt the bowlers did a very good job. Felt we bowled according to what our plan was” the skipper added.
CSK will now face KKR in their next outing of IPL 2020 in Abu Dhabi on October 7 (Wednesday)
