West Indies players who are currently in New Zealand for the white and red ball series have cleared the first round of COVID-19 test.
The players had already landed in New Zealand on Sunday and put into quarantine for the next two weeks before the series kicks off.
After clearing the first round of test, the contingent will have to undergo the next two rounds of tests on October 6 & 12 respectively. WI players are staying and training at New Zealand high-performance centre at Lincoln University in Christchurch.
The series against West Indies will also mark the return of international cricket in the country. Both the teams will engage in a three-match T20I series, followed by two Test matches in December.
As many as seven players from the West Indies contingent are yet to arrive in New Zealand due to their commitment in the ongoing IPL 13.
Kieron Pollard, Test captain Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, Nicholas Pooran and Oshane Thomas will join the rest of the WI’s squad after the end of IPL 2020 on November 10.
After arriving in New Zealand, all the seven players will go under quarantine until November 27th morning, when the 1st T20I match will take place.
West Indies will also become the only team to tour two different nations and embark their international fixtures post COVID-19 pandemic.
