Trailblazers clinched the Women’s t20 Challenge title after outclassing Supernovas by 16 runs at Sharjah on Monday. Skipper Smriti Mandhana led the side from the front with a fighting match-winning knock of 68 runs in the win.
No other batter except Deandra Dottin, Smriti and Richa Ghosh managed to go past the double digit as could be seen from slowly ticking scorecard.
Supernovas spinner Radha Yadav wreaked havoc by taking down five of Trailblazers’ batters and conceded just 16 runs. But Smriti didn’t let her get under her skin and continued with the run flow, subsequently powering them to 118/8 in 20 overs.
Supernovas didn’t have a pretty start to the chase after losing the wicket of Chamari Athapaththu in the 2nd over of the inning.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur remained the top-scorer with a slow inning of 30 runs off 36 balls while other batters struggled to even put up a fight.
Salma Khatun was the pick among the bowlers after picking 3/18 in her spell, followed by Deepti Sharma’s 2/9 in three overs.
Harmanpreet Kaur led side succumbed to defeat as Trailblazers lifted the Women’s T20 Challenge trophy.
