Soumya Tiwari is an Indian cricketer, who became an overnight sensation after being included in the ICC Under 19 T20 World Cup Indian squad that went on to win the inaugural ICC Under 19 T20 World Cup in South Africa.
Early Childhood
She was born on 11th March 2005 to Manish Tiwari and Bharti Tiwari in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Her father works as the Election Supervisor at Bhopal Collectorate, while her mother is a proud homemaker. She has one sister Sakshi Tiwari.

Calling Soumya Tiwari a prodigy wouldn’t be wrong, the all-rounder was blessed with cricket genes that she inherited from her, who also played local division cricket in her prime youth. She was fascinated by cricket since childhood and would play cricket with Thaapi (Wooden stick) and plastic balls.
Later, she started playing gully cricket with the boys in her locality. A few years later her father shifted to Gautam Nagar, New Bhopal, where Soumya started her proper training at the Arera Cricket Academy.
She uses to train during summers under the guidance of her coach Suresh Chainani.
After splendid performances in inter-club matches, the state selectors finally chose her from the Madhya Pradesh state team. At the age of 13, she was selected for Madhya Pradesh’s U19 women’s team and played her first tournament in Gwalior.
She was made captain of the U-16 Madhya Pradesh women’s team. After some time, she also captained the Madhya Pradesh U19 team in the ZCA and Challenger Trophy matches.
In 2020-2021, Soumya was included in the Madhya Pradesh Women in the Senior Challenger tournament.
In 2022, she has included in the Madhya Pradesh U19 Women’s team in the T20 domestic tournament her team won convincingly.
The same year Soumya was inducted into India A women’s squad for the quadrangular series that included teams like India B, West Indies, and Sri Lanka.
Finally, she was made the vice-captain of the Indian U19 squad that represented India at the inaugural Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup.
