Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan has finally spoken on Suresh Raina’s abrupt departure from the IPL 2020 citing “Personal reasons”.
But as per the reports, Raina was unhappy with the hotel room he was given to stay in and that led to his abrupt decision. Apparently, the left-handed batsman wanted similar accommodation to what MS Dhoni had been offered.
After his exit, team CEO KC Viswanathan posted a tweet informing the fans about his unavailability during IPL 2020.
Now N Srinivasan has reacted on the incident saying: “Cricketers are like prima donnas … like the temperamental actors of the olden days. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all seniors players have learnt to co-exist,”
“My thinking is that if you are reluctant or not happy, go back. I don’t force anyone to do anything … sometimes success gets into your head,” he further added.
Srinivasan also showed confidence in Dhoni’s leadership despite the troubles ahead of the season start from September 19.
As per the reports, Suresh Raina will be losing Rs. 11 crores after opting out of the season. Srinivasan later confirmed that the star batsman won’t get one season’s salary as he said: “The season has not begun yet and Raina will certainly realise what he is missing and certainly all the money (a salary of 11 crores per season) he is going to lose,”
CSK team is currently under the quarantine after some of their players tested positive of the COVID-19. They might also skip their first match of the season following the recent troubles.
