Asia Cup 2023 Schedule: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have at last put aside their differences and agreed on a Hybrid Model for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The two nations’ long-standing rivalry has often overtaken their cricketing relationships, but this significant move marks the start of a fresh phase in their association.
The breakthrough came following a meeting in Durban involving PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, where they engaged in positive discussions over the Asia Cup. Both sides stated their intention to strengthen relations by developing stronger cooperation in the field of cricket.
In an interview with Pakistani media, Zaka Ashraf highlighted the significance of this advancement. “It’s a good beginning, and there will be more meetings like this. Both nations agreed to have more meetings and improve relationships. It’s a good beginning,” Ashraf stated.
These positive emotions were also expressed by BCCI executives, reflecting a shared commitment to go forward together.
The road to this deal was not without difficulties. Previously, the PCB, led by Najam Sethi, has expressed concerns over the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) planned Hybrid Model.
However, under Zaka Ashraf’s duration, these complaints became louder, with the PCB insisting on an equal allocation of fixtures between Pakistan and the other participating teams.
