It comes as good news for the Indian fans as ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 Jasprit Bumrah and batter Shreyas Iyer will likely return to the Indian team. Both players, who recently went through back surgery, are making good progress in their recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and both of them are now aiming to make a comeback for the Asia Cup in 2023.
The medical staff at the NCA expressed delight with Bumrah and Iyer’s healing, which encouraged hope for their possible availability for the Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to begin on August 31.
Bumrah underwent back surgery in New Zealand in March of this year and has not played since the home T20Is against Australia in September of 2022. The bowler has been in intense physical rehabilitation right now and recently began bowling light workloads with the goal of gradually increasing it in the future.
India’s Injury Concerns Ahead of Asia Cup 2023
Similarly to this, Iyer’s back problem led him to miss the Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s last Test in March. Alongside others Rishabh Pant and Prasidh Krishna, he underwent surgery in London in May and is now fully undertaking treatment there.
The probable return of Bumrah and Iyer will give the Indian cricket team a much-needed boost as they prepare for the coming ICC World Cup 2023 in India. The addition of the pair will strengthen the primary group, which has recently been hampered by a number of injuries. India’s humiliating loss in the WTC Final this past week was made all the more obvious by their absence. Without a doubt, Skipper Rohit Sharma will be hoping sincerely for their quick and total recovery.
The NCA will be the centre of attention as Bumrah and Iyer develop their rehabilitation process over the coming weeks. The Indian cricket fraternity is still confident that these important players will get back to full strength so they can once again represent their country and play an important role in the team’s success internationally.
