The respected Spin Bowling Coach for Cricket Ireland, Nathan Hauritz, has parted ways with the team for personal reasons. After joining Cricket Ireland in the middle of 2022, former Australian off-spinner Hauritz made a big impact on the senior men’s, women’s, and youth programmes. He was a vital part of the coaching staff for the most recent T20 World Cups for men and women.
Hauritz made an emotional statement, stating, “Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed my time with the Ireland Cricket team. The players, staff, and families all made my wife, Dianne, feel like we had been part of the organization for life.”
He continued by appreciating Richard Holdsworth, Ed Joyce, and Heinrich Malan for giving him an opportunity to train on an international level. As he put an end to his remarks, Hauritz wished the team success in their upcoming series vs Australia Women and the T20 qualifications.
Nathan Hauritz Contributed To Cricket Ireland’s Growth
Head Coach of Ireland men’s team, Heinrich Malan praised Hauritz’s achievements as the first committed national spin bowling coach, pointing out his knowledge and insightful perspective. In the Irish cricket system, Hauritz was a key member in the development of frontline spinners and the nurturing of young talent. Malan was positive about the future and recognized Hauritz’s potential in the young spin bowlers.
ED Joyce, the head coach of the Ireland Women’s team, praised Hauritz’s remarkable work with the squad’s spinners and acknowledged his considerable expertise and knowledge of the women’s cricket setting. Joyce praised Hauritz as a member of the women’s senior team, recognizing the lasting impact of his direction on everyone who benefited from it.
Although Nathan Hauritz’s retirement leaves an empty spot in Cricket Ireland’s coaching team, his reputation as a devoted spin bowling coach will live on. Undoubtedly, Cricket Ireland will look for a replacement who can carry on the development and growth of spin bowling beneath their ranks.
As the cricketing community bids farewell to Nathan Hauritz, the focus now turns to the future, with Cricket Ireland poised to overcome this loss and strive for further success on the international stage.
