Kolkata Knight Riders have acquired New Zealand batsman Tim Seifert as the replacement of the US pacer Ali Khan for IPL 13.
Ali Khan who was the first cricketer from the United States to be drafted in the IPL had sustained side strain during the CPL. He failed to clear the fitness due to his injury and hence, ruled out of the season.
New Zealand wicketkeeper is now set to fill in his shoes after the KKR CEO Venky Mysore confirmed that Khan is yet to recover from his injury.
Ali Khan was brought into the side as the replacement of English pacer Harry Gurney, who couldn’t join his KKR mates due to a shoulder injury.
Last week, Northern Districts had confirmed that Seifert won’t be a part of their side this year as he has been roped in by the KKR this season.
Both Seifert and Khan were a part of the Trinbago Knight Riders who won the CPL title this year. Khan had a terrific season as he finished with 8 wickets while Seifert failed to make an impact with the bat. He managed to score 133 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 109.91.
KKR is currently placed at the 4th place in the points table with five wins in nine matches so far. They will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their upcoming game in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
