Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United announced on Saturday that they have released South African player Colin Ingram and traded him for Englishman Alex Hales from the Karachi Kings. The trading was done just a day before the HBL Pakistan Super League 2021 Player Draft.
Islamabad announced the news on Twitter and wrote, “We are excited to welcome @AlexHales1 back into the Islamabad United squad. Farewell to @CAIngram41. Best of luck Colin, you will be missed.”
Hales makes a comeback to the team after playing for the PSL 5 winners Karachi Kings in 2020. Ingram returns to the Kings after representing them in 2018 and 2018 seasons.
Additionally, the United has successfully retained a total of eight players ahead of the final player draft for the sixth edition of the tournament.
The retentions include Shadab Khan, who will lead the group as their Platinum player, and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who will serve as their Brand Ambassador. Bowlers Amad Butt and Musa Khan will lead the pace attacks for the team. Asif Ali is their Gold pick, who will be looking for grabbing the opportunity to get back in rhythm and may prove to be an important asset for the team.
Earlier the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the tournament will commence from February 20 in Karachi. Keeping in view the COVID-19 situations, only two venues will host the matches of the 34-day tournament- National Stadium in Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
