Delhi Capitals registered their sixth win of the season as the bowlers helped the side defeat Rajasthan Royals by 13 runs. Debutant Tushar Deshpande took two wickets and Anrich Nortje took two wickets each and ensured victory due to their bowling.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals’ skipper Shreyas Iyer opt to bat considering the match results of this season. Delhi didn’t get a good start after Prithvi Shaw got out on duck after getting overwhelmed by the in form Jofra Archer in the first over.
Shikhar Dhawan took over the responsibility along with the skipper Shreyas Iyer as the duo stitched a partnership of 85 runs for the fifth wicket.
Dhawan scored his second consecutive century and posted 57 runs off 33 balls, studded with six boundaries and three sixes. Delhi Capitals managed to post a total of 161/7 after 20 overs in which Archer took three wickets while Jaydev Unadkat settled with two.
In response, Rajasthan Royals had a strong start before Anrich Nortje struck and cleaned the dangerous looking Jos Buttler.
Steve Smith got out cheaply in the next over off Ravichandran Ashwin’s delivery and failed for the second time consecutively.
Delhi Capitals bowlers looked in a scintillating form and managed to restrict the RR batsmen to 148/8 in 20 overs. Anrich Nortje became the player of the match for his spell of 2/33 in four overs, including the crucial wicket of Steve Smith and Robin Uthappa.
