For the final two One-Day Internationals against Afghanistan, the Bangladesh cricket team decided to star Rony Talukdar. The decision was made after ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal declared retirement from international cricket, putting a hole in the team’s opening position. Tamim Iqbal’s Retirement comes as a very unexpected surprise for the board.
During the home series against Ireland, Rony Talukdar earned his first call-up and filled in for the injured batter Zakir Hasan. But now that Tamim has unexpectedly left the Bangladesh ODI lineup, Talukdar receives the chance to rejoin the team.
The BCB official stated, “Rony (Talukdar) will be drafted into the squad as we need to have another opener considering the absence of Tamim Iqbal.”
In addition, Litton Kumar Das will probably captain the team in the following games, Also, Shakib al Hasan is projected to be named as the future captain by the board in a short time.
On July 5, Bangladesh lost its opening match to Afghanistan by a total of 17 runs using the D/L method. The team will now need to reorganize and prepare for the following two matches.
The iconic cricketer Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh already checked out of the team hotel and is making his way back to his Chattogram hometown. Tamim has made a name for himself as one of Bangladesh’s finest players.
