SKN vs TKR: The fifth match of the Caribbean Premier League 2022 sees St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on Trinbago Knight Riders at Warner Park in St. Kitts on Saturday. The defending champions didn’t have an ideal start to the tournament as they suffered a 47-run defeat at the hands of Jamaica in their first game.
Batting first, Jamaica Tallawahs notched 183 runs in the first innings. Skipper, Dwayne Bravo went for 46 runs in his four overs, while Pretorius went for 39 in his 4 overs. The bowling was ineffective, to say the least, but it is unlikely that they are going to make any changes. In pursuit of the total, the Patriots could only manage to score 136 runs in the second innings.
Andre Fletcher never looked comfortable for his 33 off 34 balls. The likes of Ewin Lewis, Dewald Brevis, Darren Bravo and Dwayne Bravo got out cheaply.
Sherfane Rutherford was the only batter who looked good for his 33 off 22 balls, including 4 fours. However, it didn’t prove enough. The Patriots have a pretty solid batting line-up and you expect them to bounce back strongly.
Facing them are Trinbago Knight Riders, who have made a winning start. The Knight Riders won by 3 wickets against St. Lucia in their first match. The former restricted St. Lucia to 143 runs in the first inning, thanks to a four-wicket haul from Akeal Hosein. He returned with figures of 4 for 13 in 4 overs. Narine was also brilliant for his 1 for 21 in 4 overs.
TKR, later, chased down the score in 19.2 overs. Tion Webster smashed 58 runs in 45 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. Later, Tim Seifert (34) and Pollard’s (17) contribution helped the team get across the line in 19.2 overs. Heading into the next game, Pollard and Men would look to continue the winning momentum.
