South Africa’s batter Lara Goodall and skipper Sune Luus are among the topmost spots, in this week’s ICC Women’s ODI Player rankings update. This happened after their contribution to a nine-wicket win against Ireland in the opening match of their ICC Women’s Championship series in Dublin,
After an unbeaten 32, left-hander Goodall has risen nine places to 58th among hitters, while all-rounder Luus has risen seven places to 39th.
Opener Andrie Steyn, who scored 21 not out and was part of an unbroken 55-run partnership with Goodall, has climbed 12 spots to joint-83rd place. Jane Maguire, a new-ball bowler for Ireland, has moved up four places to joint-83rd.
South Africa earned their first two points in the ICC Women’s Championship with the victory in Dublin. After a 2-1 victory in the opening series of the competition, Pakistan now has four points and Sri Lanka has two, ensuring a direct qualification path to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
Goodall has also improved her position in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, which covers the final match of the T20I series, in which her side won 2-1 against Ireland, as well as 15 matches in the ongoing eight-team Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Rwanda.
Following her 48-ball knock, Goodall has moved up 28 places to 71st place, while Anne Bosch has moved up 14 places to 46th place after her 44-not-out. Others who have moved in the rankings include Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa (up to one spot to 20th), Gaby Lewis of Ireland (up to one spot to 22nd), and Janet Mbabazi of Uganda (up 11 spots to joint-75th).
Tumi Sekhukhune, a medium-fast bowler from South Africa, has moved up two places to 25th in the bowler rankings after taking three for 20. While Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba have moved up two places to 41st and 42nd, respectively, after taking two wickets each. Celeste Raack of Ireland has moved up three places to 84th, while Nasra Saidi of Tanzania has moved up 13 places to 86th.
