After suffering a new injury, Australian fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck experienced a setback in her determined desire to play for her country again in cricket. Vlaeminck lately struggled with left shoulder instability when using her right-arm pace against England A. The incident happened during their final match of the tour.
Vlaeminck will undergo additional testing when she gets back to Australia in a few weeks to figure out the severity of the injury. After an extended recovery from the foot injury, the 24-year-old has made a successful comeback, and hope is still strong that this setback will just be a small barrier.
Vlaeminck, who is known for her remarkable speed, was one of women’s cricket’s fastest bowlers before sustaining a stress fracture in her right foot that prevented her from competing in the T20Is and ODI World Cups in 2022. She last participated for Australia in the Women’s Ashes in 2012–22.
When Vlaeminck returned to the field on 21 June for Australia A in a T20 encounter at Loughborough, she demonstrated her skill by claiming a wicket despite having little time on the pitch.
After that, she kept up her strong play, taking three more wickets in her following three matches for Australia A, which included one T20 match and two 50-over matches.
Unfortunately, she only bowled only 2.4 overs in the final 50-over match at Guildford, giving up 23 runs while also taking one wicket. She suffered shoulder instability during this match, which raised concerns over how long she could stay in the game.
CA provides Tayla Vlaeminck remodelling treatment
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia have provided Vlaeminck with consistent encouragement throughout her tough return to the sport. To minimize the likelihood of recurring foot injuries, she underwent a full-action remodelling treatment.
The talented player has already suffered from a number of serious setbacks, involving two knee reconstructions, a shoulder dislocation, and a partial rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament tear.
Vlaeminck’s injury has stopped her from competing in the ODI World Cup and the upcoming Ashes series, but she is still dedicated to bouncing back from her most recent setback and reclaiming her spot in the Australian team. She encourages both her teammates and fans with her dedication to the sport and unwavering energy.
