RCB vs GT Highlights: Gujarat Titans knocked Royal Challengers Bangalore out of the competition with a 6-wicket win at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The win also means that Mumbai Indians become the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs, while Gujarat finished the league stage with 10 wins in the tournament.
Given how Virat Kohli finished RCB’s innings at 197 at the end of the first innings, it looked like RCB, perhaps, would win the clash. However, Shubman Gill’s masterclass knock overshadowed Kohli’s ton at a batting paradise in Bangalore.
Virat Kohli, yet again, delivered in a crunch game, smashing his second consecutive ton in the Indian Premier League. The likes of Faf du Plessis (28), Maxwell (11), Karthik (0), Lomror (1) didn’t have a great day at the office but Virat Kohli kept smashing bowlers at all parts of the ground, at the other hand.
His incredible ball striking meant RCB continued to score runs at a great pace. Virat Kohli ended up playing an unbeaten knock of 101 runs in 61 balls, while there were valuable contributions from Bracewell (26 off 16) and Anuj Rawat (23 off 15) as well. RCB ended up notching a notable total of 197 runs on the board.
Noor Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for them, claiming 2 for 39 runs in 4 overs, while the likes of Shami, Dayal, Khan and Mohit Sharma chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Shubman Gill smashed his 2nd Century in IPL in Gujarat’s win
In reply, Gujarat Titans lost Saha early off Siraj, thanks to a brilliant catch from Parnell. However, Shubman Gill was in no mood to spare any bowler. He continued his great form and smacked 5 fours and 8 sixes en-route to his match-winning knock of 104 runs in 52 balls.
He was given valuable support by Vijay Shankar, who amassed 53 off 35 deliveries. There was a brief period where RCB looked to make a comeback as they picked the wicket of Shankar, Shanaka, and Miller in quick succession. However, Gill just snatched the win from them, giving RCB no chance, whatsoever.
He played a sensational match-winning knock of 104 runs in 52 balls and, with that, also knocked RCB out of the competition and tore apart their dream of clinching their maiden IPL title.
