RCB W vs UPW W: The UP Warriorz handed Royal Challenger Bangalore their fourth consecutive defeat on Friday in the ongoing Women’s Premier League 2023. Alyssa Healy and Co. exhibited a clinical performance against a team that is low on morale.
Chasing a total of 138, it took only 13 overs for the Warriorz to chase down the score. Devika Vaidya and Alyssa Healy stitched an unbeaten 139-run partnership to win the game for the team. Healy led from the front as she played an unbeaten match-winning knock of 96 runs in just 47 balls at a strike rate of 204.
Devika Vaidya, on the other hand, played a second fiddle to her, amassing 36 off 31 balls. The Warriorz bowled equally well with the ball as well.
RCB, though, started well with the bat. They had lost Mandhana (4 off 6) early but S Devine and Ellyse Perry had forged a 44-run partnership for the second wicket.
The duo reached 73 runs in 8 overs but once Devine (36 off 24) got out, wickets fell in quick succession. While Perry kept on scoring boundaries at one end, wickets fell at the other end.
Perry managed to play a handy knock of 52 runs in 39 balls but she lacked support at the other end. The woman in form, H Knight, unfortunately, got run out very early in her innings and Richa Ghosh too was guilty of getting herself run out as well. 7 out of 11 batters got out on single-digit scores as RCB’s misery in the tournament continues.
For the UP Warriorz, Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 13 runs in 3.3 overs. Deepti Sharma too was outstanding with her figures of 3 for 26 in 4 overs. With that win, UP Warriorz position itself at third positive with 2 wins in 4 games, while RCB languished at the bottom and is yet to open its account.
RCB W vs UPW W Brief Scores: UP Warriorz 139 for 0 (Healy 96*) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 138 (Perry 52, Ecclestone 4-18) by 10 wickets
