The defiant Australian Women outplayed England Women by 89 runs to register a scintillating victory in the one-off Women’s Ashes Test match here at Trent Bridge on Monday. With this victory, the heavyweight Australian contingent clinched the first leg Ashes Test series as the action now heads into the 3-match T-20I series.
Winning the toss at Trent Bridge, Australian Women skipper Alyssa Healy made an exemplary decision to bat first. Batting first, Australian Women put up a commanding 473-runs total in their first innings.
Perry & McGrath lead the Australian scorecard with a 119-run partnership
Australian Women were off to a resilient start as Elysse Perry (99) and Tahlia McGrath (61) powered a stunning 119-run stand for the third wicket. Towards the end, Annabel Sutherland (137) played an absolutely phenomenal knock to assist Australia in taking charge of the match.
