Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed Miles Bascombe as the Director of Cricket. Bascombe will join the supreme Caribbean apex body for a term of three years. CWI has taken a distinct decision to appoint Bascombe in order to shape the struggling contingent.
Miles Bascombe will take over from former Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams. Adams held the eminent position for a brief position of six years from 2017 to 2023. Adams tried to reshape the fortunes of West Indies cricket but achieved little success.
Miles Bascombe played a lone T20I for West Indies back in 2011. He was the Men’s Selector for Cricket West Indies (CWI) from 2019 to 2021. He was also the Technical Director at the Windward Islands Cricket Board for the last two years, i.e. 2021 to 2023.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) CEO Johnny Grave addressed the media and confirmed Bascombe’s appointment. Grave mentioned that Bascombe’s passion for Cricket and his sheer technical knowledge of the sport certainly stood him out from all the competitors in the recruitment process.
“Following a thorough recruitment process, Miles stood out to the panel with his skills, experience and intimate knowledge of our cricket system, especially at Territorial Board level,” CWI CEO Johnny Grave said in a board release.
Notably, Bascombe was appointed to the prestigious position at the CWI Board of Directors meeting that was held on Friday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Bascombe also addressed the media and expressed that he is delighted to be handed over such an instrumental opportunity. Bascombe stated that he will relentlessly work to rescue the West Indies team from a critical position that they are currently going through.
Notably, Bascombe has played domestic cricket in all three formats. He has featured in 24 First-Class Games, 26 List-A Games and 25 T20s. Bascombe featured for the Windward Islands and Combined Campuses.
Bascombe will take up his new role on August 1 2023. Until then, CWI Manager for High-Performance Graeme West will act in the capacity of Interim Director of Cricket.
