Star Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has openly welcomed the idea of the Women’s T20 challenge saying that she is excited about the league.
Smriti’s remark came immediately after the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly announced the Women’s T20 Challenge to be held in the UAE from November 1-10.
Mandhana posted a tweet where she welcomed the decision by the BCCI with a caption: “Welcome move. Really looking forward to play the Women’s T20 Challenge” @BCCIWomen
On Sunday, the BCCI announced that as many as four teams will participate in the Women T20 Challenge and the tournament will take place between November 1-10 along with the eliminaton and playoff rounds of the Men’s IPL.
Last year only three teams were a part of the tournament in Jaipur but this time, three teams will have a go-to make the tournament more exciting.
Australian cricketers Alyssa Healy and Rachel Haynes have expressed concerns over the dates of the Women’ T20 challenge as it would clash with the the WBBL.
The Women’s Big Bash League is scheduled to take place from October 17 to November 29 this year. And the major issued here is the matches would coincide with each other as some players play in both the leagues.
Also that Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti play in the WBBL as well as the Women’s IPL so it wouldn’t be feasible for the players to play in two different leagues at the same time.
