DC W vs RCB W: Delhi continue their fine form in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) as they registered their fifth win after beating Bangalore by 6 wickets on Monday. Bangalore fought hard and fought till the very end but couldn’t win the game, in the end.
RCB’s misery in the tournament continues as they have suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament. RCB batted first and notched a competitive score of 150 runs in the first innings.
Given how they fared in the first half of the innings, it never looked like they would reach 150. The likes of Smriti Mandhana (8), S Devine (21), and H Knight (11 off 12) failed to hit the straps.
However, Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry turned the game around with a stellar partnership. The duo joined hands and led a counterattack. Ghosh played a stellar knock of 37 runs in 16 balls before getting out in the 19th over.

Perry, on the other hand, stayed right till the end and played an unbeaten knock of 67 runs in 52 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. For Delhi, Shikha Pandey starred with the ball, claiming 3 for 23 in 4 overs.
Delhi too lost in-form batters, Verma (0) and Lanning (15) early. But Alice Capsey’s 24-ball 38-run knock helped the team make a destructive start. Bangalore managed to take the wickets of her and Rodrigues to keep the game evenly poised till the 15 overs.
42 runs were needed in the last over but M Kapp and Jonassen held their nerves and produced a match-winning partnership of 45 runs in 31 balls. Their unbeaten partnership helped the team chase down the target with 2 balls remaining in the end.
With that win, Delhi strengthens its position at second on the table with 4 wins in 5 matches. RCB, on the other hand, is languishing at the bottom and needs to win all the games from here.
