EMI vs DUB Highlights: MI Emirates booked their place for the qualifier 2 match in the International League T20 after beating Dubai Capitals by 8 wickets on Thursday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. With that defeat, Dubai Capitals’ journey has come to an end.
They couldn’t replicate the performance they showcased with the bat in the last match. Batting first, Dubai Capitals managed to score a below-par total of 151 runs. Uthappa got out cheaply but Munsey and Raza played vital knocks to help the team get a good start. The duo added 78 runs for the second innings and Dubai was at a pretty good stage till that point.
Munsey (51 off 43) then departed after scoring a handy half-century, while Razam amassed 38 runs in 34 balls. Rovman Powell also played a handy knock of 30 runs in 22 balls. The Capitals would be gutted to not finish as well as they would have liked.
For the MI Emirates, Trent Boult and Rashid Khan stepped up with match-winning performances. Boult picked two vital wickets and conceded only 19 runs in 4 overs, while Rashid Khan returned with figures of 2 for 20 in 4 overs.
In response to the target, MI Emirates lost M Waseem (2 off 3) cheaply, while Lorcan Tucker (10 off 16) also didn’t do well with the bat. But Andre Fletcher was smashing the bowlers to all parts, at the other end. He played a scintillating knock of 68 runs in 45 balls. His partner, Nicholas Pooran again played a gem of a knock, smashing 66 runs in just 36 balls, a knock which was laced with 3 fours and 5 sixes.
The duo stitched an unbeaten 104-run partnership in just 67 balls, helping the team chase down the score in just 16.4 overs. The MI Emirates will now meet Gulf Giants in the Qualifier 2 clash on Friday, while Dubai Capitals will go home.
