The India A Women’s contingent has qualified for the much-anticipated Finals of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023. The marquee event had been organized by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and was being hosted by Hong Kong. All the fixtures were conducted at the Mong Kok Cricket Stadium. The final will also be conducted at the same venue on Friday where India will lock horns against Bangladesh.
Interestingly, India’s semi-final clash against Sri Lanka was washed out without a ball being bowled. The match was postponed to the reserve day where the rail once again played the spoilsport. As India finished at the top of Group A which consisted of Hong Kong, Nepal and Pakistan A, the Women in Blue earned a direct qualification to the ultimate clash.
On the other side, Bangladesh A Women clinched a scintillating 6-run victory over Pakistan A Women in the second semifinal contest. Bangladesh was absolutely clinical in the penultimate game and was phenomenal throughout the tournament. Bangladesh will now undergo a resilient challenge against the mighty Indian side.
Meanwhile, India is having significant rest in Hong Kong as they have made it into the finals by playing only a solitary fixture. They defeated Hong Kong in their inaugural pool stage fixture by nine wickets. Since then, they consistently held the first position in Group A standings.
Hong Kong failed to capitalize on the sizzling opportunity that was entrusted by the ACC. As many as 8 fixtures were called off without a ball being bowled, which hampered the ability of associate nations to showcase their talent against the full-member nations.
As we head into the crucial finale fixture, all the fans will expect that rain will not play a spoilsport in dampening the clash. India undisputedly stands as the favourite to win the contest.
