IND vs WI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (June 23), announced the squads for the upcoming West Indies tour, including two Test matches, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), which will begin on July month. While the T20I squads have not yet been chosen, the committee has made a number of important choices for the Test and ODI squads.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has finalized India’s squad for the forthcoming two-match Test series and three ODIs against West Indies. The squad for the five T20Is will be announced later,” stated a BCCI release.
Cheteshwar Pujara, an experienced batsman, and Umesh Yadav, a seasoned bowler, have been surprisingly left out of India’s Test squad for the West Indies tour, which begins on July 12.
Meanwhile, young players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, along with fast pacer Mukesh Kumar, have been given their first call-ups. This represents an important opportunity for these young talents to present themselves on a global platform.
Mohammed Shami Rested For WI Tour; Navdeep Saini Called Up
Fast pacer Mohammed Shami is going to get a well-earned break throughout the West Indies tour. In addition, Navdeep Saini has been returned to the Test team. Saini’s return will give India’s fast-bowling attack more variation and depth.
Ajinkya Rahane was given the vice-captaincy role for the two-match Test series, highlighting his significance and leadership abilities within the squad.
