The One-Day International (ODI) format of cricket has its unique importance in the evolution of the game. Batters and Bowlers together play an important role to determine the results for their side. Sandeep Lamichhane of Nepal has scripted a historic record against his name as he became the fastest bowler to claim 100 Wickets in ODI.
Sandeep Lamichhane achieved the unique feat in Nepal’s ACC Premier Cup fixture against Oman. Lamichhane broke the record of Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan who had held the throne since 2018.

1. Sandeep Lamichhane (42 innings)
Nepal’s mystery leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has etched a terrific record against his name as he became the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in ODI. Lamichhane required 42 innings to achieve the remarkable milestone and he now tops the eminent list. The 22-year-old made his debut in 2018 in a T20I game against West Indies and since then, the leg-spinner has become an integral part of the Nepal cricket team.
2. Rashid Khan (44 innings)
Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan is simply renowned for his astounding leg-spin bowling. The veteran now is the second fastest bowler to 100 wickets in ODI as he completed the feat in 44 innings against West Indies in 2018. The 24-year-old became Afghanistan’s T20I captain in December 2022 after Mohammed Nabi stepped down from the position following ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
3. Mitchell Starc (52 innings)
Australia’s flamboyant left-arm pacer, Mitchell Starc has a thunderous pace and exceptional line to break the defence of any batsman in the world. Starc is the third fastest bowler to claim 100 wickets in ODI as he took only 52 innings to achieve the miracle against Sri Lanka in 2016. The southpaw has over 600 wickets across all formats in his international cricket career and has remained the mainstay for Australia.
4. Saqlain Mushtaq (53 innings)
Veteran Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq was also marvellous during his exemplary career as he remains the fourth fastest bowler to get 100 wickets in ODI. Mushtaq had completed the quota of his 100 wickets against Sri Lanka in 1997 where he required only 53 innings to encrypt his name in the history of the game.
5. Shane Bond (54 innings)
Shane Bond was one of the most astonishing and scintillating pacer for the Black Caps New Zealand. Bond’s decisive approach in ODI cricket led to him being the fifth fastest bowler to grab 100 wickets in ODI cricket as he registered his feat against England in 2007. Bond took only 54 innings to take 100 wickets. Shane Bond played 82 ODI matches and scalped 147 wickets at an economy rate of 4.28 which reflects his dominance over opposition batting during his career.
6. Mustafizur Rahman (54 innings)
Bangladesh’s ace left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has remained the most bankable asset for the side in ODI’s. Mustafizur took only 54 innings to prove his calibre as he had already chipped in 100 wickets by then. He achieved a fabulous landmark against Pakistan at the Lord’s in 2019.
7. Brett Lee (55 innings)
Legendary Australian pacer Brett Lee cannot be left out of this list as he remains one of the finest ODI bowlers in the history of cricket. Lee is the seventh fastest bowler to register 100 wickets in ODI as he bagged the gigantic record against England back in 2003 and took only 55 innings. Brett Lee finished as one of the most successful bowlers for Australia with 718 wickets in 322 matches. He is the fourth most successful bowler for Australia in Test with a staggering 310 wickets in 76 matches. He played his last international match against England in the 4th ODI of the series.
8. Trent Boult (56 innings)
Trent Boult is a prolific and magnificent left-arm pacer who is highly reliable for New Zealand in the white-ball format. Boult is the second-fastest Kiwi and the eighth-fastest bowler to scalp 100 wickets in ODI. Boult achieved the record against West Indies in 2017 and took only 56 innings.
9. Mohammed Shami (56 innings)
Mohammed Shami has a heroic stint for India in the ODI format. Within a quick time, he had earned a name for himself in the ODI format as he became the fastest Indian and the ninth fastest bowler in the world to claim 100 ODI wickets. Shami fetched the milestone against New Zealand in 2019 in only 56 innings.
10. Jasprit Bumrah (57 innings)
Jasprit Bumrah is one of the most talented and effective pacers for India across all three formats of the game. Bumrah achieved a distinct milestone and holds the record of being the second-fastest Indian and the tenth-fastest bowler in the world to grab 100 wickets in ODI. Bumrah took only 57 innings to a brilliant century of wickets against Sri Lanka in 2019. He is the second Indian bowler in the list to have the fastest 100 wickets in ODI.
