Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has displaced ace English paceman James Anderson to claim the No. 1 position in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. Anderson had recently bagged the top spot after ending the reign of Australian stalwart Pat Cummins. However, his short-lived tourney was handsomely outshone by Ashwin.
Ravichandran Ashwin has been in mind-blowing form at the ongoing edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia. His remarkable performance has helped him achieve a stunning feat as he has reclaimed the prestigious position after a brief period of 8 years. Ashwin gained a milestone rating of 864 points after India’s decisive victory against Australia in the second test match at Delhi. He currently leads the standings and is above James Anderson who has 859 rating points in his kitty.
Ashwin has powered a heavyweight performance for India in the first two Test matches of the four-match series. He claimed 8 wickets for 79 runs in the first Test match where India recorded magnificent innings and a 132-run victory. In the second test, Ashwin grabbed 6 wickets for 116 runs where India won by 6 wickets and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

England’s Jack Leach gained handsomely in the bowling rankings as he went up by 6 spots to the 23rd position.
