ICC WC 2023 Qualifier: The Netherlands registered a 74-run win over Oman on Monday and with that win, they have kept their hopes alive for qualification. Also, chances are pretty slim at the moment as they want some other results as well to go their way.
Batting first, the Netherlands notched a massive score of 362 runs on the board at the end of the first innings. Vikramjit Singh headlines the win as he notched his maiden ton in a One-Day international. He played a sensational knock of 110 runs in 109 balls. He was given handy support by Max ODowd, who scored 35 runs in 64 balls.
The duo forged a 117-run partnership for the opening wicket to lay a solid foundation. Barresi then capitalized on the start as he played a stellar knock of 97 runs in 65 deliveries, a knock which was laced with 10 fours and 3 sixes.
The likes of Bas de Leede (39 off 19) and Saqib Zulfiqar (33 off 17) also made handy contributions as well. Oman didn’t have a great outing with the ball. Bilal Khan, though, had a decent outing as he returned with three wickets for 75 runs in 10 overs. M Nadeem also picked up two wickets as well.
In reply, Oman could only manage to score 246 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets. Kashyap Prajapati (25 off 32) and Jatinder Singh (17 off 24) got a decent start but neither of them could convert that start into a big score.
Skipper, Aqib IIyas got out cheaply for just 4 runs in 6 balls but Ayaan Khan impressed one and all with a stellar knock of 105 runs in 92 deliveries. Shoaib Khan also smashed 46 runs in 61 deliveries, including five fours.
However, those contributions didn’t prove enough as they lost the game by 74 runs (via the DLS method). For the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up three wickets for 31 runs in 10 overs.
