WI vs UAE 3rd ODI: West Indies beat the UAE by 4 wickets in the third and the final ODI at Sharjah Cricket Stadium to register a 3-0 clean sweep on Friday. Riding on an impressive bowling display, West Indies bundled out UAE for just 184 runs on the board to ease up their contention for the series.
UAE made a phenomenal start, though they lost Lovepreet Singh (3 runs) early in the 3rd over. Skipper Waseem (42 runs) and Aravind (70 runs) stitched a fifty-run partnership to lead the recovery. However, got into the game as Riefer finally bowled Waseem (42) in the 12th over but his partner kept going strong.
Aravind went on to play a sensational knock of 70 off 75 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six. Shahzad chipped in with 27 off 40. UAE looked good with the bat till the first half of the innings. However, the wicket of Aravind in the 30th over changed things completely as wickets continued to fall at short intervals.
Kevin Sinclair Won Player of the Match for Taking 4/24 Spell
Six out of the last seven batters in the playing XI got out on single-digit scores. For West Indies, Kevin Sinclair was the star with the ball as he claimed four wickets for 24 runs in 7.1 overs. Their top-run scorer, Brandon King was rested but his replacement, Alick Athanaze played a match-winning knock of 65 off just 45 balls on his debut.
Shamarh Brooks, once again, played a handy knock of 39 off 58 deliveries. The likes of Carty (20) and Chase (27) also chipped in with handy contributions in the innings.
UAE kept picking up wickets in regular intervals but there weren’t enough runs on the board. In the end, West Indies chased down the score in 35.1 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
The likes of Aayan Afzal Khan, Muhammad Jawadullah, and Karthik Meiyappan all picked two wickets each but to no avail in the series. With that win, West Indies take series 3-0.
