UAE vs WI 1st ODI: West Indies will be playing against UAE in the first ODI of the three-match series on Sunday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The two teams have played two ODIs before in the format’s history. West Indies emerged victorious in both games.
UAE, however, have a pretty good record at home, having won four out of their five ODIs played here. They would be keen to secure their first win against the West Indies.
West Indies’ recent record in ODI isn’t too inspiring as they have lost three out of their last five matches.
Skipper Shai Hope has an outstanding record in ODIs. He will be a player to watch out for and is expected to score a plethora of runs. Brandon King should support him at the other end as his opening partner. In the middle order, they have the likes of Roston Chase, Brooks, and Keacy Carty, with all having the potential to play big knocks.
The likes of Keemo Paul and Odean Smith will provide much-needed balance to the team. As far as the bowling is concerned, Akeem Jordan, Yannic Cariah, and Gudakesh Motie are likely to make the cut.
UAE Preview
On the other hand, Muhammad Waseem will lead the UAE team. He should open the innings with Vritya Aravind. The middle order will have the likes of Asif Khan, Rohan Mustafa, Rameez Shahzad, and Lovepreet Singh. Junaid Siddique and Karthik Meiyappan should be the biggest bets with the ball as they are expected to pick the bulk of the wickets.
Rohan Mustafa is one of the star players in the side. He is an all-rounder who is expected to contribute both with bat and ball. The match is scheduled to be played at Sharjah Cricket Ground. The smaller dimensions of the grounds make it a high-scoring encounter.
The bowler should ball at good areas or else, they are going to be belted for a lot of runs.
