Beginning on November 30, Australia will play host to the West Indies for two Test matches at Perth’s Optus Stadium. Australian captain Pat Cummins announced his team’s starting lineup prior to the opening game, marking the first time in seven years that Australia will face West Indies on home soil. The Australian roster is impressive, yet they left out Scott Boland.
Australia’s three-man pace attack consists of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and captain Pat Cummins; however, Boland, Australia’s match hero during the Ashes this year, has been left out of the starting lineup. Australia has not made any significant changes to their playing combination since their last Test match against Sri Lanka, with the exception of Boland.
“Previously, you could have guessed it. We’re in terrific shape for this series thanks to everyone’s hard effort. According to Cummins, this was a no-brainer,” Cummins said.
After losing to Sri Lanka in Galle in July, Australia brought in experienced seamer Josh Hazlewood to replace Mitchell Swepson. Swepson took 3/103 in that match, however, he was omitted from Australia’s West Indies series squad.
Australia is aiming to secure a final position in the World Test Championship.
David Warner and Usman Khawaja, two seasoned hitters, will remain at the top of the order, and left-hander Marcus Harris, who was recalled for the series, will not. Australia needs to sweep the West Indies if they want any shot of making next year’s World Test Championship final.
In spite of facing a challenging schedule, Cummins’ squad is now ranked first. Following their series against the West Indies, Australia will play host to South Africa for three Tests before ending the year with a four-match Test series in India, which might determine their fate in the World Test Championship.
