The 11th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is scheduled to begin on August 16th, just three days after the India-West Indies series ends in the US. CPL 2023 will run until September 24th and will follow the usual caravan model, with matches moving from one centre to another.
The Indian tour itinerary has not been announced yet, but it is expected to end on August 13th with a T20 game at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Florida. There will also be a T20I on August 12th. The tour will most likely start on July 12th with a Test and will include two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. The last two games of the series will be held in the US.
The CPL will first start in Saint Lucia, where the first six matches are lined up at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground from August 16th to 20th. The Saint Lucia Kings are set to play in four of these fixtures. The tournament will then move to St. Kitts & Nevis, where six matches are lined up at Warner Park from August 23rd to 27th, and four games for the home team, the Patriots.
Barbados leg of CPL 2023 to commence from August 30
The Barbados leg of the tournament will take place next, with six matches scheduled at the Kensington Oval from August 30th to September 3rd. This will be the first time the CPL is returning to Barbados since 2019, and the Barbados Royals will play four home games. From September 5th to 10th, the league will move to Trinidad & Tobago, where there will be four home games for the Trinbago Knight Riders and six matches in total.
The showdowns of the tournament will be conducted in Guyana from September 13th to 24th, where knockout stages to the finale are also set to take place.
The CPL will provide an opportunity for some of the top West Indies players to showcase their skills ahead of the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in October-November 2022. It will be interesting to see how the teams perform in this tournament, which has become a major event in the cricketing calendar.
